When my friend Julie helped (ahem told me exactly what to plant and where and went with me to buy it all) me with the studio garden, she told me not to be worried if the plants don’t grow tall right away because they need a season for roots to grow deep. A space in time when the plant looks like it isn’t growing but in actuality is ensuring its foundation is strong.

I feel that way with my artistry - new endeavors that aren’t quick, that take time to learn and give me skills I can’t see the fruits of quite yet. But man, do I feel those roots gaining hold 🌱.

My favorite part of summers in the studio and the #1 reason we chose to add the studio on to our home versus rent a space.

These 3 are my foundation, my why, and my biggest fans. I love that they think I’m famous because they can Google me😏. My love for portraits started with them. The way I photograph children is because of the way I want my boys to be photographed. Your stories, your family’s stories, matter to me because of how much their stories mean to me. This studio and my artist heart are linked to motherhood inextricably.

Studio vibes will be shifting when they go back to school next week❤️.
